VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY FOR ATTORNEYS AND LAW STUDENTS

SDLRLA has just been informed by the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, Inc. (LASSD), of a great volunteer opportunity allowing attorneys and law students to gain valuable civil litigation experience in the area of debt collection defense.

Volunteers will be able to participate in all stages of the civil litigation process, including responding to complaints, propounding and responding to discovery, and trial preparation.  Volunteers will also have the opportunity to interview clients, write demand letters, prepare legal pleadings, and work with attorneys on cases such as identity theft, used car sales, and other consumer issues.

Opportunities for trial experience are also available. Spanish speaking preferred, but not required. Volunteers are encouraged to participate at least 15 hours a week, at least four of which should be spent at the LASSD consumer clinic in the Chula Vista Courthouse from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The remainder of the time will be spent at the LASSD office at 110 South Euclid Avenue, San Diego, CA 92114.
