ABOTA is reaching out to YOU with the goal of developing greater diversity in the local membership!
ABOTA, or the American Board of Trial Advocates, is a national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the civil jury trial right provided by the Seventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. First and foremost, ABOTA works to uphold the jury system by educating the American public about the history and value of the right to trial by jury.
Many attorneys believe they must have a minimum of 20 jury trials to verdict. While this is one option for membership, the local ABOTA chapter adopted the national organization amendment known as “The Local Option.’ The revised bylaws detail the new rule at Article III Membership, Section 2 Classes of Membership, subparagraph 1 Member. In short, the new local option allows new applicants to submit their application if they have completed 10 unlimited civil jurisdiction (or the old superior court jurisdiction) jury trials to verdict with the goal of accumulating 200 points at some point in the future.
