Congratulations to Immediate Past President Lizzette Herrera Castellanos on her appointment to the 2012-2013 Hispanic National Bar Association Standing Commission on the Status of Latinas in the Legal Profession! What a great honor! The Latina Commission’s studies and resulting reports identified a set of distinct recommendations for increasing Latina representation and success in the legal profession via programs to: Support and sponsor mentoring programs and opportunities for Latinas at all phases of their educational and career development; Increase the visibility of Latina role models to inspire and encourage others and reach out to Latina youth at an early age; and Monitor Latina progress and establish working committees to explore appropriate agendas to respond to the challenges faced by Latina attorneys in the private and public interest sectors.
