Congratulations to our 2012 Attorney of the Year, Jose Garza Badillo.

Jose is a criminal defense attorney, who for the past twelve years has enthusiastically devoted his professional career to ensuring each client receive the most vigorous and competent defense.  He obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1999.  As a criminal defense attorney, his trial victories have earned him the respect and praise of his peers in the legal community.  Jose has been involved in numerous high-profile matters throughout his career including the notable 3 month trial of one of the alleged members of “Los Palillos.”  Other recent professional successes include acquittals in two separate trials of individuals facing sentences in excess of 60 and 20 years, respectively, in prison.  Jose is a proud member of SDLRLA.  He is also one of the founding members of Justicia, a San Diego based organization of criminal defense attorneys dedicated to reaching out to the Latino community, particularly in the area of mentorship and gang intervention.  Jose is married, and a proud father of two children.  Jose will accept the award at the Annual Dinner.  He said: “I am honored to be selected as to 2012 Attorney of the Year.  I thank La Raza for its continued dedication to justice and equality under the law.”
