San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association Scholarship Fund  is a nonprofit charitable corporation that provides scholarships to law students who have contributed to the Latino community. Our awards go to students who have met our criteria of community service, financial need, hardship and academic achievement. The awards are not limited to persons of a Latino/Latina background, but also include those who have contributed to the betterment of the Latino community. The Fund was formed in 2007 to enhance the charitable activities of the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association. To date, the Fund has awarded over $120,000 in scholarships to help law students pursue their legal career. Bar Stipends Return!

The SDLRLA Scholarship Fund proudly announces the fifth year of its Bar Stipend Scholarship Program! The bar stipend is awarded to law students in their final year of study to assist with bar examination related expenses. In awarding bar stipends, the Fund will consider the applicant’s financial need, academic achievement, community service, leadership experience and any hardship experienced in pursuing an education. Stipends typically range from $500 to $1,000. Bar stipend recipients will be honored at an event in May 2015. All law students will be welcome. EDWARD JAMES OLMOS TO BE KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT THE 2014 SDLRLA SCHOLARSHIP FUND GALA DINNER!  Known for such roles as Lt. Martin Castillo in Miami Vice, Jaime Escalante in Stand and Deliver,  Admiral William Adama in Battlestar Galactica and Prof. James Gellar in Dexter, just to name a few, Mr. Olmos is also a spokesman and advocate devoted to helping his community. He has served as a U.S. goodwill ambassador for UNICEF and a national spokesman for the Southwest Voter Registration Project. Olmos was arrested and spent twenty days in prison in 1991 for taking part in protests against the U.S. Navy’s bombings of the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico.
